    途中、三朝川の恋谷橋にいたカップルがそれぞれのおうちの人に引き離されちゃってたんだ。
    女の人のほうは、ボクたちが泊まる旅館の跡取りでなんだか悩んでるみたい。
    でも次の日、行方不明になって…!?

    Ran-neechan won a Sanin Region Hot Springs Tour at the Beika Shopping District, so I took the Super Hakuto to the Misasa Hot Springs with Ran-neechan and Kogoro-no-ojisan!

    On the way, a couple at the Pont Koitani Bridge were being pulled away from each other by their families. The woman that was pulled away just so happens to be the next heiress of the inn we’re staying at and it looks like she’s got some troubles.

    But the very next day, she went missing!

    Another tour in Tottori and a Rome and Juliet-esque relationship. Happy to see the Tottori sand dunes make another comeback in the series. Hopefully they show off more delicacy in the next episode while we track down the kidnapper.

    It is great to see Kogoro shining and figuring things out on his own. Hopefully, we can have him solve the case with the help of these two officers from the Tottori Sand Dunes Mystery Tour. Feared that this might turn into a murder case with the aunt being the way she is. But, we got a breath of fresh air with a kidnapping instead.

    Considering we have some key suspects that need the money it is tough to say who it is. I am curious if the uncle knows anything else or is he the accomplice. Plus, Sachiyo’s delivery in the video is a bit weird. As if it is being poorly acted out. This might end up being a “I kidnapped myself” kinda case.

    An another note, did Kogoro just throw Conan in the preview for the next episode XD.

  • Detective Conan Episode 1189 – Double Alibi

    Welcome! MeitanteiBunshou here with some thoughts on today’s Detective Conan.

    This Week’s Translation

    ボクと小五郎のおじさんは、ロビーに大きなからくり時計が飾られているホテルに行ったんだ。 そのからくり時計職人のお弟子さんが、脅迫状が送られてきたから護衛して欲しいって依頼みたい。

    でもそのホテルから離れた湖で、阿笠博士と灰原が発見したのはボートに乗せられた時計職人のお師匠さんの遺体だったんだ! 警察の捜査で依頼人のお弟子さんとケンカしてた事もわかったんだけど、その人には不可能なはずで…!?

    Kogoro and I went to a hotel where a big clock was on display. That very clock was made by an apprentice clock-maker who received a threatening letter and Kogoro was requested to guard him.

    But at a lake far from the hotel, Professor Agasa and Haibara found the corpse of a master clock-maker in a boat! The police investigation revealed that the apprentice had a fight with the victim, but there’s no way he could have done it!

    It was obvious from the start but the method was a bit complex. Leave it to a clock-maker to mess with time and alibis. Unfortunately for him, the set up for the trick was too obvious and was eventually going to be found out. Especially given that someone could have saw the motor in his car. Plus, the guy who likes to fish going fishing… where it is out of season. Definitely fishy indeed.

    I liked that they added Haibara and Agasa into this episode. Usually, Kogoro and Conan are flying solo, so this was a breath of fresh air to have someone else discover the body. It would be nice to see more characters we don’t get to see often show up in the original anime episodes. Like Eisuke or Yoko or have some cameos from the Kaito Kid cast.

    I truly wonder how common it is for a “master” to take their apprentice’s work. Too bad this isn’t Persona 5 and they couldn’t have the guy have a change of heart instead. They gave us another potential suspect but given she seemed to not be around at the time nailed the true culprit even easier.

    Funny how Natsumi has better instincts than Kogoro. Luckily, she slowed the culprit down with the handcuffs. I would have found it a bit more entertaining if she found out Conan is the puppeteer of the great detective. In fact, that would have brought this “benefiting from other’s work” around quite nicely. But then again, perhaps its for the best she doesn’t get the idea of not meeting your heroes so early.

    On another note, I am a curious why Kogoro used that escape route but I guess that will remain a mystery.

    And we are taking a trip to Aoyama sensei’s birth prefecture – Tottori!
    It will be quite a treat to revisit Tottori and a perfect celebration for the 30th anniversary.

  • Detective Conan Episode 1188 – Follow Them! Detective Taxi 3

    市長さんに大歓迎されたんだけど、なんだか様子がおかしいみたい。
    しかもそのとんでもないイベントの裏では、ある計画も進んでて…!?

    We got picked up by the “Kogoro Otaku” taxi driver Ishikawa Genki and headed for the town hall.
    The mayor gave us a grand welcome but, something’s off – a scheme being plotted behind the scenes!

    Love the new OP and ED!

    It’s been a while since I heard B’z in OP or an ED!
    This has to be one of the best ways to get the new year of Detective Conan episodes going.
    So many cameos and references. I don’t know where the anime will take us this year but here’s hoping it’s a good year!

    Mai Kuraki’s gentle voice set with the tearful piano while the time passes under a cherry blossom tree. Beautiful! Hopefully, we can get Shinichi back this year to reunite with Ran.

    We are back again with another wild taxi episode! The art and the animation were well done. Hopefully we can get this same consistency for the rest of the year… right? Speaking of art, they kept the classic doors!

    Found the outfits… odd. Ran was not having any of it (/≧▽≦)/

    Bit confused on how these drones are carrying this heavy looking container. Then it has an extra load to carry when the old man gets on it. I have to give respect to the old geezer piloting the drone all the way to the hospital. Who says old dogs can’t learn new tricks? He really pulled out all the stops from the heist to the escape. Unfortunately for him, we have a crazy taxi driver hot on his trail.

    I also liked the diagram. I heard that Crunchyroll was supposedly trying to ditch this detailed type setting. Hopefully, Detective Conan keeps up the great work of putting care into this.

    On another note, I thought that the minced cutlet guys was going to be in on the scheme. But, he turned out to be a relatively “normal” person. I do like that Conan, Kogoro and Ran were not having it with these costumes throughout the episode. Luckily, they were able to give them right back.

    It’s been years, but it looks like we have a new card and a new next conan’s hint visual. Plus, they are going to change the end card every month. Excited to see what other stops they are going to pull out this year!

    High school detective Shinichi-nii-chan was meeting up with Ran-nee-chan at Beika Aquarium.
    Looks like she’s on a recon mission for her plan to get her parent’s back together.
    But when he notices the crowd at the aquarium were acting strange, Shinichi realized something was up!

    And after the case is closed, there is another reconnaissance that leads back to that day!

    Before we get into the special, I am surprised that Crunchyroll dropped this so early. Usually there is a delay with these kinds of things. They got it up on the site at 3:30 am! I guess they didn’t have much to translate given that this special is adapted from episodes 772 and 773. Bit confused why this counts as an episode though.

    Nonetheless, what an exciting way to start the year off. Using the first OP and ED was awesome. Want to see some more OPs and EDs from the past? The official Detective Conan Anime Channel dropped a video this morning.


    This is probably just to celebrate the 30th anniversary, but I’m not complaining if this keeps going for a while. Love that they updated the visuals and gave us new scenes for the OP, too.
    They even added Haibara into the ED with the Detective Boys.

    Another thing I liked about this episode is that I got to see this scene.

    Having different OPs and EDs during the eye catchers was also a great touch.

    The case itself was easy to deduce. I like a Japanese pun or having to crack a code every now and then. However, paying attention the details and bringing it all together is what I love the most about this series. The tricks that were used and Shinichi’s sharp deduction to reveal it all was where this episode shined. I miss these “how did he know” deductions. Hopefully, we get to see more like this in the near future.

    I forgot about the motive for the case so hearing “that” in a Detective Conan episode took me out. The guy was terrible but surely there had to be a better way. Considering she resorted to murder, I guess she tried and it lead to this conclusion. And with the culprit identified the case is closed.

    We even got some new scenes with Shinichi checking out Tropical Land. Plus, a cameo from Kaito on a date with Aoko. Given that Magic Kaito came first, I am hoping that we get some development in Kid’s story someday.

    This is truly an episode zero. It would be nice to watch the Episode One Special on Crunchyroll. Seeing the effort TMS is making in the US gives me hope that we’ll see more love for the series.

    We’ve got another car chase coming next week. The second one came out last March and given how quirky this series can be, I’m looking forward to it.

    As for the Conan Hint: Minced Cutlet-Kun & Croquette-Kun – メンチ君とコロッケ君

    This year is going to be big for the series. We have reached the 30th anniversary for the anime. I was hoping we got a new OP and ED. That kinda happened. We didn’t get to see Chihaya or promotion for the movie in April. However, this is the big 3-0, so it is fitting to see Conan doing the new year’s celebration solo.

    ボクと阿笠博士が海釣りで遊んでる間、蘭姉ちゃんと園子姉ちゃん、灰原、歩美ちゃん、佐藤刑事の『探偵女子5』は、ホテルのレストランのスイーツ食べ放題に行ったんだって! でも突然、隣のテーブルの女の人2人が倒れて、1人は助からなくて1人は意識不明の重体で病院に運ばれたみたい。 そして使われた毒と容疑者たちには妙な共通点が…?

    While I was on a fishing trip with Agasa, the “Detective Girls Five” went to a hotel to enjoy some sweets. But then, two ladies at the next table collapsed! One couldn’t be saved while the other was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. And the poison that was used by the culprit leads to an odd connection.

    Ending the year off with a girl’s day off episode is nice. Since this is the year of the snake it’s even better 🐍. We got the year of the horse 🐎next year, so maybe they’ll go horseback riding next year. Or maybe an episode with Kogoro losing it all at the races.

    I wish that Sera could join the group but given her dynamic with Haibara in the first one, it’s understandable. Can’t have her pressing Haibara for questions.

    Multiple suspects and other characters being introduced was a nice addition to this case. I’m not sure how relevant these new cops are going to be in future cases, but I guess we’ll see.

    And of course this is Detective Girls Five’s time to shine. Love that Haibara’s not having any of it.

    The Indiana Jones-esque scene was over the top as usual. Not sure crawling on the floor would have been a good way to be discreet about poisoning someone though.

    And was not expecting the underground snake charmer idol bit. Who’s seeing that to the point where it gets popular?! Their reactions was hilarious.

    I was thinking it was a double suicide done by one of the victims at the table. Micro-dosing venom in order to pull of a murder is crazy. And just to prove that snakes are cool or something… there’s gotta be a better motive right… right? Nope, that’s the only explanation we’re getting.

    Plus, how the heck did they not see or hear the snakes on the floor (especially Haibara and Ayumi). Luckily The Snake Three are there to save the day.

    On another note, someone should probably tell people not to fish in this location Conan and Agasa are at. There’s too many poisonous/venomous fish there 💀.

    Plus them talking about “again with the snakes” reminded me of Samuel L. Jackson from Snakes on a Plane.

    Next Episode is…

    Went to an aquarium yesterday. Plus, I got a card related to this case for Christmas. Looking forward to the special adapting episodes 772 and 773.

    Hopefully Crunchyroll gets this special. If not, there’s always the original episodes to go back and watch.

    As for the Conan Hint: 30th Anniversary – ３０周年

    Next year is going to be big for the series. We will be reaching the 30th anniversary for the anime series in 2026. I’m hoping we get a new OP and ED. Surely we’ll see Chihaya in the New year’s greeting as well.

    The original Conan hints for this case were supposedly Cell Phone and Glove but Kaito Kid stole the hint for Part 2 back then.

    学校帰りに見つけたボロボロのメモで誘拐に気が付いたボク達は、高木刑事達に連絡して、米花町で聞き込みをすることになったんだ! その誘拐犯を追ってた高木刑事と佐藤刑事は、神奈川県で千速さんと赤レンガ倉庫の店に入ったんだって!

    そして米花町でボク達は怪しいサイコロ男の話を聞いて、そのサイコロの写真を見たんだけど…?

    On our way home from school, we found a torn up note about a kidnapping. So we got in contact with Takagi and started our own investigation. Takagi and Sato raced after the kidnapper to Kanagawa where Chihaya saw the culprit duck into the red brick warehouse!

    Back in Beika City, we heard about the suspicious Dice Man and saw a picture of the dice!

    Beika City and Yokohama: Together, Chihaya and I will solve the case!

    The paper plane trick was very intricate. Love the how-to guide on making it so I might try it out one day. There was a trick in a previous case to make floating will-o-wisp flames.

    The culprit wasn’t too hard to figure out this time. Then again, luckily they decided to have consistency with the color of the culprit’s shoes. Unfortunately, we won’t get to know about that business man’s wild fashion sense. I wish that we got more detail on why the kidnappers did this in the first place. The fact that they kidnapped her and put her in the attic is a bit weird as well. Sure the grandmother probably cannot hear her, but surely when her parents came back, they would catch on. At least I hope so.

    The dice used the pig pen cipher. Good to learn another cipher. Would be great to see more codes in the future.

    And Bourbon… dude… what the heck?!
    That old guy did say to look into Conan a few canon cases back but yikes. Luckily, Conan’s cautiousness won in the end.

    Shiori was saved, the kidnappers are going to jail, and we are probably heading into a face off with Bourbon. And of course, Takagi is going to be in so much hot water with Sato (;^ω^).

    We got a remaster for next week but we have a Girl’s Day Mystery coming to wrap up the year. That will be out December 27th.

    学校帰りにボク達が野良猫を見に行ったら、その猫がくわえてた紙に女の子からのSOSが! その頃、バイクで逃げた誘拐犯を追っていた高木刑事と佐藤刑事達は、神奈川県に入ってしまった上に犯人を見失っちゃったんだって!

    そこに偶然、赤レンガ倉庫に逃げ込む犯人を見た神奈川県警の千速さんが現れて…!?

    On our way home from school, we found a cat holding a piece of paper in it’s mouth. It ended up being a SOS message from a girl that was kidnapped! Takagi and Sato had a car chase with the kidnapper who fled on motorcycle. Unfortunately, they lost sight of the culprit in Kanagawa Prefecture.

    And by chance, Chihaya of the Kanagawa Police Force saw the criminal duck into the red brick warehouse!

    This will most likely be the last canon case we get for the year. Nice to see Chihaya again. She’ll be in next year’s movie, so this is a fitting return for the Goddess of the Wind. Also it doesn’t feel as if they just forced her in. Her knowledge and quick thinking is helping out in this case. Plus, saving that kid from becoming street pizza was awesome.

    We have three unidentified suspects:

    • A stylish guy with a high body temp,
    • A older man who seems like he’s forcing himself to eat pancakes
    • A business man with a wild fashion sense.

    If we are going off the color of the shoes in the picture above, I’m certain it’s the first guy. On top of that, the older guy has scratches on his left hand. Considering the bike fell to the right I don’t think it is him. I am curious about the business man though. The jacket contrasts with his demeanor.

    Curious who is working with the kidnapper in that house. And the dice look unique. Some kind of code between the accomplice and the kidnapper?

    On another note, Takagi is going to be in so much hot water with Sato after this (;^ω^).

    Another interesting thing about this episode is the restaurant they went into. It seems as though it is based off of a real cafe called Bills in Japan. I’m more of a waffle kind of guy but the pancakes look good 😋.

  • Detective Conan Episode 1183 – The Interrogation Room 3

    小五郎のおじさんの依頼人の映画監督さんが殺されちゃったから、容疑者の人の取り調べの立ち会いにボクも一緒に行ったんだ。 監督さんはオーディションが行われた会議室で1人で選考中にナイフで刺されたみたいで、助監督がその部屋から飛び出してきた人を見たんだって。

    その人に聞いたら容疑を認めたんだけど、取調室で自分はやってないって言いだしたんだ! でも佐藤刑事はこの人が犯人だと確信しているみたいで…!?

    Kogoro and I came to the police station to witness an interrogation. One of Kogoro’s clients who was a film director was murdered and now they questioning a prime suspect. He was stabbed in the audition room while making a decision on casting. The assistant director spotted someone leaving the scene of the murder.

    That person in question admitted to the murder, but then denies they killed him!

    But Sato is not convinced!

    Love the fact that Sato saw through the culprit from a mile a way. If only if Haruko would have left it at assuming the girl was a witness. She could have played this game out longer. Then again, there’s her tendency to make assumptions. The police gave her info about a maid almost getting hit by a motorcycle. Wouldn’t be hard to believe that Haruko thought this was the maid employee who almost got ran over. Unfortunately for her, she kept talking only to dig the hole deeper.

    But dang. This was one hell of a misunderstanding to be killed over. I am curious who they ended up killing in the wreck. And the fact that they took a group photo right outside the interrogation room was nuts.

    Wonder if the title of the movie was going to be “I Know What You Did Last Summer”.

    On another note, when is Yoko going to make another appearance? Feels like it has been ages.

    We are getting one more canon case before the year is over. Chihaya plays a big role in the movie next year so this is a great way to reintroduce her.

  • Detective Conan Episode 1182 – Arrest That Face

    Welcome! Meitantei Bunshou here with some thoughts on today’s Detective Conan.

    This Week’s Translation

    歩美ちゃんが散歩中にすれ違った男の人は、交番の手配写真の人だったんだって!
    それでボクたち少年探偵団は、その男の人が入って行ったアパートに行ったんだ。
    部屋の表札にはすごく偽名らしい「山田太郎」…。

    でも見張ってたら、元太が通りすがりの人に「指名手配犯を見つけた」って言っちゃったんだ!
    その人とボクが部屋の窓から男の人の顔を確かめてから、アパートから出かける男の人の追跡をみんなで始めたんだけど…!?

    Ayumi was walking passed a man who looked like a person in a wanted poster at a police box!
    So we headed over to check out the apartment the man went into.
    The name on the name plate looked like it was an alias “Yamada Taro”.

    But, while we were staking out the apartment, Genta blurted out to a passerby that “we found a wanted criminal”! The passerby and I checked if it’s the right guy when he looked out the window. So, the chase was on when he left his apartment until…?!

    Back with another episode with the Detective Boys. Starting off with a notice at a police box. Glad that they haven’t had any deaths （死亡・しぼう） since yesterday. And luckily no is getting murdered in this episode. We do have a killer/robber on the loose with a 3 million yen bounty on their heads. I guess Ayumi is trying to take the Detective Boys into the bounty hunting business with this one.

    On another note, I do like that they have notices about the オレオレ詐欺 (おれおれさぎ・ore ore sagi) scam. They also have a poster that informs people on what to report to the police when calling.

    Detective Boys episodes can be a hit or miss at times. Still, I think this is one of the good ones. It was clear from the start that Tanaka had some motives. The guy was no where near the trash can to be knocking it over like that. Luckily Yamada got caught on some debris and the kids were there to get him out of the water. A quarter of a way through, I thought, “Wouldn’t it be funny if this is something like face/off?” Half of that came true XD.

    The fingerprinting was an interesting rabbit hole to go down. I didn’t know the Japanese words for the 3 basic types of fingerprints so this was fun.

    • Whorl 渦状紋・かじょうもん・kajyoumon

    Alas, I don’t know if I should be glad that the Detective Boys stick their noses into too much though. Then again if it wasn’t for Genta’s nose for food, they would have still been looking for the guy.

    I still think it would be best if they stick to school mysteries. However, we know that’s not going to happen.

    On another note, I feel bad about Yamada being mistaken for a criminal all the time. Luckily, they found the true culprit and maybe he can live a quieter life. As for the Detective Boys, some things don’t change (;^ω^).

  • Detective Conan Episode 1181 – Buchi Returns a Favor

    Welcome! Meitantei Bunshou here with some thoughts on today’s Detective Conan.

    This Week in Detective Conan

    The Episode Zero special has announced when it will be releasing: January 3, 2026! It will be covering the aquarium case.

    In other news, One Piece has decided to go seasonal. It was surprising to see it go on hiatus last year and start back up this April. With that being said, I wonder if Detective Conan (another monolith in Japan) will go down the same route.

    Also we have a new collection of Detective Conan episodes out on Crunchyroll. They have it underneath Conan vs The Black Organization now. I guess to distinguish it from the subtitled episodes. Hopefully they change it something else.

    This Week’s Translation

    毛利探偵事務所に来てた高木刑事に、“ブチ”って名前の人から「恩返しで情報提供したい」っていう電話が来たんだって! 待ち合わせの公園にボクと小五郎のおじさんも行ってみたら、包丁が刺さった男の人の遺体が! この人が“ブチ”って人みたいなんだけど、強盗計画が記されたメモを持ってたんだ! それで目暮警部の判断で強盗を止めるために張り込みを始めたんだけど…!?

    Takagi, who was visiting the detective agency, got a call tipping him off about a crime. It was from a man named Buchi who owed a favor. Kogoro and I tagged along to meet with Buchi at a park, only to find a man stabbed to death! The man turned out to be Buchi and we found a note about a potential robbery! And so Inspector Megure decided to prevent it but an unexpected turn for the worse occurred!

    Once again we got a lot of characters introduced adding to the complexity of who killed Buchi. As soon as we get to Jun and Minayo, they had the true culprit pinned. So we have an ex-convict out for revenge on the police and the man that ratted him out. His plan was not well thought out and it was too easy to catch him. The guy was so cocky. He even claimed that someone framed him for the robbery despite his accomplices having already pointed him out.

    And the nail in the coffin was due to him not picking up on the idiosyncrasies of Buchi’s writing. Luckily, his neighbor had the turtle kanji in his name.

    On another note, I’m glad that Kaneko Jewelry Store wasn’t targeted this time.
